Gameplay Data

Rotten Chamber sends anonymous gameplay data to our own server at rottenchamber.com. It describes how the game is played: sessions, runs, levels and the tutorial (what you did, how it ended and how long it took), wishlist clicks in the demo, the seeds and level codes you play, your settings and basic device details such as screen size, operating system, game version and language. Our server keeps only the country of your IP address. We use it to balance the game, find bugs, improve translations and count players.

It never includes your name, your Steam account, your IP address, your save files, your portrait images or anything you type except a seed or level code. There is no player ID, so we cannot tell which records are yours, which also means we cannot show or delete them on request.

You can turn it off at any time in Settings > Gameplay. In the browser version this choice is stored in your browser, so clearing your browser data turns sending back on. Records stay on Cloudflare, which runs our server, for up to two months. Our own copy is kept locally, may be backed up to cloud storage and is deleted 13 months after the records arrived. Backup and recovery copies can last up to 30 days longer.

Steam and itch.io, where you get the game, handle their own data under their own privacy policies. Steam Cloud, if it is on, also stores the play counters the game keeps with your saves.

This Website

This website has no analytics, ads or cookies of its own. It is hosted on Cloudflare and loads its fonts from Google Fonts. The trailer comes from YouTube, play.rottenchamber.com shows the game from itch.io and the translation page uses Cloudflare Turnstile against spam. These services receive your IP address and may set cookies or run analytics under their own policies. The site remembers your language choice in your browser's local storage (rc-lang, rc-loc-lang).

Translation suggestions you send reach our Google Workspace mailbox through Resend, with your browser's user agent and, if you add them, your name or email address. We use them, and any email you send us, only to improve translations and to reply, and we delete them once they are handled.

Who We Are and Your Rights

Onement Games is responsible for this data. We rely on our legitimate interests in improving the game and running this website (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Cloudflare, Google and Resend may process data in the United States and other countries under standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

For questions or to ask about, correct or delete a translation suggestion or email you sent us, write to contact@rottenchamber.com.

When the game starts sending a new kind of data, we update this page and its date first.
